    Hi guys

It would be really helpful to be able to choose direction from a user defined natal position for this tool; forwards, backwards or both. At present it only displays selected aspects forward of the date rather than ‘looking back’.

    For your consideration.

    Cheers

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

I can think of no reason for a natal aspect to go backwards. The idea is to see transits against natal planets and that is only valid after the natal date.

    All the best

    Evening Mathew

Some of my research involves ‘looking back’ from a future celestial phenomena. Let’s use the upcoming JU/SA conjunction 22 Dec 2020 @ 0*Aqu29′, I would set the natal date as 0*Aqu29′ and then using the tool choose a transiting planet and aspect to produce quick visual display (I realise it may not be how the tool was intended to be used). I’d look at say VE or MA transiting (or at an angle to) the upcoming JU/SA conj.

Alternatively I can use the Custom Planetary Angles Tool but if I wish to view the divisions of the ‘circle’ (aspects) it requires that I manually calculate them and it only allows the one planet to be reviewed at a time…. so a natal transits tool that allowed for backwards viewing would be both elegant and helpful.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi Andrew,

That would be interesting. It would be quite a bit of work and while it definately would not make 1.6, I can’t even see it making 1.7 due to the work we already have in the schedule.

Given that a Natal Planet is fixed point, we could add a Custom Planet option in the Aspects tool. Obviously not as elegant, but would get you the answers you need. I’ll see if we can get that into 1.6

    All the best

    Mathew

    Hi Andrew,

I went looking to add fixed points to an Aspect and it is not the simple task I thought it was. Unfortunately I do not have the mechanism pre-built and it would become a major task.

Some other tools look at are Angle Returns and Aspect Returns. They won’t do exactly what you need but may get you close.

    All the best

All good thanks for the reply, it would be fab if a backwards natal transit option could be considered for future addition to the astro suite… in due course…

    Have a great day

    Andrew
