New Layers On A Layout

Hi,

I have on the chart with several layers. I want to add a new tool, but as its own layer. When I attempt to add a new tool now, I can add it to any of the existing layers but I can’t seem to get it on it’s own. Please advise Thank you.

Hi,

When you have the view expanded in the Structures panel you will see an option you can click to Add a new Layer. Click it, select the new layer then apply the tool, it will be applied to that layer.

Hi,

In the visual you provide there is a main layer all the way to the left. Then there is an indented a second layer underneath and to the right. In my workbook all of the layers are vertically aligned. See the picture attached. I cannot get the tool to add to its own layer. When I add a layer is adds to an existing layer, and same for the tool. The tool ads itself to an established layer. I want the tool to be in its own layer. Thank you.

Hi,

The Structures panel is split into several levels. The top level is View, each view has its own window (so a chart is a view, a volume tool below it is a view, etc). Within each View there are layers (a layer for the chart itself, a layer for tools applied to the chart, etc) which are part of that view.

In your screenshot, all of the Views have been minimised. You need to click on the + to expand them, where you will then see the individual layers. You can add a new layer to the desired view there (as per my earlier reply). Once the new layer has been created, click it before adding the new tool, and it will be placed within that layer.

Thank you for responding. My issue was with a tool I scripted. I had the script checked to use as an indicator, but it was applied to “Same View” instead of “New Tool View.”
