Oscillators for sideways market but bullish stock

Hi all,
I have a general question after doing Lecture 14 on Basic Oscillators. I studied that oscillators like RSI are not good for the trending market but good for sideways market. How about the market is sideways and individual stock is bullish or bearish? Will oscillators work well for the individual stock? Many thanks for your help.
