Structure panel study groups/stack

Hello

I wonder if Optuma has any functionality to ease my way. I routinely use 3-4 tools at the bottom of my chart to get a quick overview, each is in its own layer. I also often need to quickly get all of those tools (or all but one) out of my way so that I can do deeper analysis. I can’t find a quick way to make that transition happen.

I don’t seem to be able to make a custom toolbar button to ‘stack studies’, and even if I could, this doesn’t work great because when I remove the stack study setting, the height of each tool is lost and I have to manually squish each tool back down to the minimum allowed value to make everything fit. This takes a lot of steps when I do this over and over again through the day.

I also tried to add a ‘group’ in the structure panel, so that I can hide the entire group at once, but when I do that, Optuma tries to overlay all of the tools in that group onto my main segment with the stock price - RSI and other indicators don’t work well overlaying the price. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hi,

A group won’t work in this scenario, groups are designed to handle multiple layers, but each tool in your setup has its own view.

What type of analysis do you have on the chart, is it mostly global tools (like Moving Averages, etc) or are they static? If they are mostly global tools you could setup two different chart layouts, one with the view tools in place, one without. Then all you would need to do is switch between the different layouts rather than enabling / hiding multiple items from the Structures panel.

If I think of any other quick was to hide multiple view tools at once I will let you know.

The tools I use are RSI, Composite Index, QQE, and Stochastics. Each of those helps me to identify my trigger, identify divergence, and keep track of when the trend is losing steam. My watchlist is setup with side by side charts, displaying all of these tools in multiple time frames, so when all of that gets on the screen it gets pretty small, but I don’t want to give any of these elements up.

When I need to do my homework to set price targets, or adjust my price targets during the day, I use only one of these tools along with a full view of the price history to see the Elliott Wave count. I can’t quickly make this switch. I tried to duplicate the entire watchlist, and on the duplicate have only one large chart with stacked studies, but this isn’t working well either. When I draw trendlines, target boxes, and such, those are not viewable back in my main watchlist unless they share a layout - which runs into the problem when switching from stacked to not-stacked back in the main watchlist, where each tool expands its height and doesn’t leave enough room for the price. I’m manually dragging things back into the position I want them way too much.

If you have any ideas, please let me know. If not, a feature request to be able to make a custom toolbar button that can stack studies (while having the studies keep their height, and apply to multiple charts on my watchlist at once), or a way to group views so that I can hide the group with one click would be great.
