I wish to study the performance of a number of charts around a certain date in the past e.g. the GFC (circa 2008).
My aim is to be able to set up a watchlist and have all the charts open every time at a certain date in the past . Ancillary to this would the ability to define a date range around that date e.g. for a couple of years, or whatever. I have tried to do this in “Training Mode” then to save it as a page layout but it doesn’t work like that it seems.
It would not be the ideal solution to what you are looking for but you could either use the show history slider and set the dates you want to look at then move it forward each period. You could save the chart as a Template and then apply that template to all of your charts. The other way is to use the select date range and save as a template and apply that template again to your charts.
I have solved my own problem, and the answer was simple, viz:
Open a watchlist.
Open the first chart in training mode. Set required parameters in Training Mode e.g. 5 years ago. Alter the chart to that time period. The period covered by the chart can be easily configured e.g. daily chart for 1 year in 2008 (GFC say).
Then just scroll down the list of instruments on the watchlist and all of them will be opened as daily charts for one year in 2008. So a lot of comparisons can be made with ease.
